The Patent Engineer evaluates technical inventions, supports patent applications, and works closely with inventors and patent attorneys. Responsibilities include technical analysis, research, participation in examination and opposition proceedings, and monitoring relevant technologies. We primarily handle mandates from the fields of mechanical and plant engineering, electrical engineering, and process engineering – with a strong focus on quality, precision, and an innovative spirit.

What to expect:

  • Technical analysis of inventions: You will assess new technical developments and support the preparation of patent applications.
  • Communication with inventors: You will conduct technical discussions, clarify details, and guide the entire process until protection is granted.
  • Participation in proceedings: You will support examination, opposition, and appeal proceedings before the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, the European Patent Office, and other national offices.
  • Research & Evaluation: You will conduct novelty searches and analyze the intellectual property situation.
  • Structured workflow: You will define suitable search and monitoring profiles and keep them up to date to monitor patent publications in our clients’ technology sectors.

What we look for in you:

  • Completed degree in engineering or natural sciences (e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or similar)
  • Strong technical understanding and analytical thinking skills
  • Very good German skills as well as good English skills
  • Precise, structured, and reliable way of working
  • Strong communication skills, initiative, and team spirit
